Bike Manufacturers began welding aluminium bike frames together not long after aluminum frames first appeared. Instead of connecting hardware, such as bolts lugs and tubes, the Tig welding process creates a single interconnected frame by fusing each aluminum segment together whilst preventing oxidisation by using argon gas as a shielding agent. Welding remains a common construction method for aluminium bicycle frames
